ICRA
INSTITUTE FOR COMPUTER-ASSISTED RESEARCH IN ASTRONOMY

Our Projects – a selection

During the years since 1978 ICRA has put several projects into reality in an international environment. It contains basic research and development, as well as turn-key delivery of complex projects including special proprietary purpose-built hardware. Following the proverbial “products from scientific waste” many first realisations based on complex control mechanisms and image processing, as well as applications in satellite communication and computer security, electronic archiving and analysis of very large data volumes (when the notion of “Big Data” was not invented yet). An international patent within the sector of intelligent data compression formed the basis of many applications.

Starting in 2008 ICRA has formed a co-operation with archaeologists in the realm of knowledge of the early cultures of humankind, deciphering languages such as cuneiform per computer with an analysis of the content.
